Braided rug project

I haven’t been posting as much as I would like in the last week, but I have been really busy with my new DIY project. To make up for it, I am showing you a preview of what I have been working on. I always wanted to have a round carpet, but they seem to be a bit rear, at least the ones that I like. So I decided to make one myself. I spend a lot of time searching the internet for ideas and decided to make a braided rug. I bought unbleached cotton at Ikea and dyed a part of it and just started braiding. It’s a lot of work, but it is also a lot of fun to see the carpet transform as you work on it.
I think I am almost halfway done, so it’s still a lot of work. But when I am finished I will post a tutorial to show you how to make this yourself! I hope you like it so far and I will keep you posted on the process.

Looks fabulous!!! I’m interested to see how you join it together. I’m in the process of making a rag rug using braiding and am hoping to be able to make a rectangular shape. Mine’s come to a halt, though. Look forward to seeing yours finished…
